Spatio-temporal survey of environmental degradation in the Salamanca River micro-basin, Barbalha-CE
Watersheds. SIG. Land use and occupation. Vegetation Indices.
The classification of land use and occupation allows for a more in-depth understanding of the spatial arrangements that make up the landscape, as well as the processes responsible for environmental transformations. Surveying land use and occupation is one of the most important tools when it comes to evaluating environmental transformations resulting from the degradation of soil, vegetation and water bodies. In this sense, the objective was to map and evaluate the different uses and occupations of soil in the Salamanca River micro-basin, in order to diagnose the level of environmental degradation in the micro-basin over 35 years (1985-2020). The work carried out constituted an analysis of land use and occupation in the Salamanca River micro-basin, in the municipality of Barbalha-CE. For this, images of land use and occupation in the municipality of Barbalha were used, obtained through the MapBiomas platform database (https://mapbiomas.org) through extraction from Landsat 5 satellites for the years 1985. to 2010 and Landsat 8 for the years 2015 to 2020, with a spatial resolution of 30 meters. The results found demonstrate that the process of degradation, especially deforestation, has been present year after year, even if subtly, little by little the natural landscapes are giving way to an environment in which man constantly changes.
