SUMMARY:

The Aedes aegypti mosquito (Diptera: Culicidae) is responsible for transmitting dengue, chikungunya, zika and yellow fever, diseases that have historically demanded large economic resources in the fight against it and in the treatment of victims. are increasingly limited due to the growing number of mosquitoes resistant to the formulations, moreover, the goals of sustainable development are in line with the development of insecticides with low environmental and human toxicity and based on studies that point to the potential insecticide from plant extracts, plants become good options to meet the demand for new viable compounds against A. aegypti. Therefore, this research aims to study the insecticidal activity of raw and boiled extracts of Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Vell.) seeds on A. aegypti larvae. The methodological course that guides the study consisted of an exploratory study of an experimental nature, with a descriptive approach and quantitative analysis of the results obtained. The extract killed 100% of the larvae at concentrations of 46.89 and 37.13 mg/mL (with 24 h of exposure) 28.13 and 18.75 mg/mL (with 48 h of exposure). Heating the extract improved the larval mortality rate in the first 24 h of exposure, but reduced its efficiency with prolonged exposure, with LC50 concentrations of 10.86 mg/mL and LC90 of 12.11 mg/mL of the extract in natura, during 48 h, the most promising in the study. The in natura extract made unfeasible a total of 2.5% of the A. aegypti eggs, and of these, 13.33% ± 7.63 were inactivated at the highest concentration of 46.89 mg/mL. However, these values increased to 81.66% ± 10.40 with the heating of the extract, obtaining the respective CL10, 50 and 90, as being equal to 25.29, 35.95 and 52.67 mg/mL, respectively. The extract showed no pupicidal activity. Lectins and the secondary metabolites flavones, flavonols, flavanones, xanthones and phenols were detected in its composition. The results indicate the efficiency of saline extraction in the solubilization of molecules and demonstrate the potential of E. contortisiliquum seeds in the control of A. aegypti, especially against the eggs of this mosquito, as these are unprecedented data for this vegetative species.
