RESUMO:

In the historical path of humanity, society has in nature its main source of survival. The action has taken place in an exploratory way since the beginning, modernity arriving without any concern with the depletion of these resources. In the mid-twentieth century, the topic became a topic of discussion in various regions of the planet, with a view to adapting needs and limiting natural elements. From this issue emerges the proposal of sustainability as a concept that brings together the economic, social and environmental axes. Among the various forms of economic activities developed by society, is fish farming. It is a technological evolution in which man gives up the traditional format of fishing and takes an intensive stance. In Brazil, it is expected that by the year 2030, fish production will reach approximately 20 million tons per year. Fish farming has influenced the survival of poor communities living in rural areas, including the state of Ceará. The Orós reservoir is one of the largest freshwater reservoirs in the country. In addition to supplying several municipalities, it is a source of extensive and intensive fish production. In this sense, this research project was born out of concern: what are the economic, social and environmental impacts of fish farming in the Orós Weir? Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze the sustainability of fish farming in the Açude Orós, in the Center-South region of the State of Ceará, which will be developed from the analysis of sustainability and its assumptions, confronting them with legal parameters at the national level. , state and municipal; verification of the influence of fish farming in the municipality of Orós based on socioeconomic indicators; the characterization of production and the subjects involved in fish farming; and the identification of the level of sustainability of fish farming in that reservoir. The methodological path adopted involves multiple methods, due to its proposal of composition, where the dissertation will consist of four articles, closely related to the specific objectives of the
