RESUMO:

Furthermore, Resolution No. 6/2012, which provides for national curricular guidelines for Technical Vocational Education (EPT, in portuguese) at secondary level, reiterates the need to link these educational institutions with the socioeconomic and environmental development of the territories where the technical courses are inserted. In this context, the present study aims to analyze the theoretical and practical activities of EA in professional high school in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. As for the methodological procedures, this research is based on the deductive method, since it sought to correlate the dimensions of the DS (social, cultural, environmental, territorial, economic and political) with the actions of EA and local (regional) development , in view of its applicability in professional high school. To do so, it presents a qualitative research approach and the nature of the exploratory-described and, occasionally, explanatory objectives. In addition, a bibliographic and documentary review was carried out to obtain secondary data (and, in part, primary data). As for the collection of these, the research strategy of the Case Study was also chosen, where an interview (in the form of agenda) was carried out with the former management of EEEP Raimundo Saraiva Coelho. As a result, the study can clearly see the influence of the dimensions of sustainability (by Ignacy Sachs) on the concept of EE, until then legitimized by national legislation; where it was possible to prove the multi and interdisciplinary insertion of EA in EPT of medium level in the municipality of Juazeiro do Norte; constituting traditional / conservative education as the main challenge for the dissemination of EA actions in these institutions. Finally, it was possible to show that the Metropolitan Region of Cariri (RMCariri) has a relevant natural and cultural heritage for the promotion of EA actions in the region.
