RESUMO:

In the historical course of humanity, society has in nature its main source of survival. The action has been exploratory since the beginning, reaching modernity without worrying about the depletion of these resources. In the middle of the twentieth century, the theme becomes the agenda of discussions in various regions of the planet, with a view to matching needs and limitation of natural elements. From this question emerges the sustainability proposal as a concept that brings together the economic, social and environmental axes. Among the various forms of economic activities developed by society is fish farming. It is a technological evolution in which man leaves the traditional format of fishing and takes an intensive stance. In Brazil, it is expected that by the year 2030 fish production will reach approximately 20 million tons per year. Fish farming has influenced the survival of poor communities living in rural areas, including the state of Ceará. The Orós Dam is one of the largest freshwater reservoirs in the country. In addition to supplying several municipalities, it is a source of extensive and intensive fish production. In this sense, this research project is born of concern: what are the economic, social and environmental impacts of fish farming in Orós Dam? Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the sustainability of fish farming in Açós Orós, Center-South region of Ceará State, which will be developed from the analysis of sustainability and its assumptions, confronting them with legal parameters at national levels. , state and municipal; the verification on the influence of fish farming in the municipality of Orós from socioeconomic indicators; the characterization of the production and the subjects involved in fish farming; and the identification of the sustainability level of fish farming in that reservoir. The adopted methodological path involves multiple methods, due to its composition proposal, where the dissertation will consist of four articles, closely related to the specific objectives of the project.
