RESUMO:

Public policies are defined and practiced in historical contexts. Therefore, each society has a pattern of public policy. In the Brazilian case, the study of public policy is still experiencing an incipient moment, as regards the plan of the knowledge about the responses that have been of Brazilian society on the subject. However, since the concepts and terms related to public policies began to be present in the language of the governments and society in general, the very structure of these contemporary societies demanded that the expression "public policies" should be reviewed and updated incorporate instances beyond the State, that is, reflection on determinations of social, cultural, political and economic nature which underpin the action of public power resulting from the complex interaction between State and society. With the emergence of the term Sustainable Development, scope of public policies turn more and more to environmental issues. In this sense, in understanding that the study of public policies should be guided by by the ontological, analytical, empirical and methodological planes in the search for of the flow resulting from the actions and intentions of the actors activated by and in the public interest, the present research aims to analyze the Timbaúbas Park as a public policy environment and its relationship with the Sustainable Development Objective - ODS that is aligned with the proposal of the Park. Therefore, the methodology used is exploratory- descriptive approach with a qualitative approach and makes use of a case study. Used also bibliographical and documentary research, direct observation and interviews semistructured.

And for the analysis of the results the descriptive analyzes were adopted, documentary, exploratory and exploratory. It was verified that the Timbaúbas experiences a situation of abandonment and de-characterization as a policy environmental protection of water resources, since the lack of municipal management in together with the lack of participation and popular control has not contributed to the development of sustainable public policies. With this, the public policies practiced in the Park do not favor ODS No. 15, since it was not possible to identify actions concrete or continuous measures to provide protection, recovery or promotion of sustainable use of existing ecosystems and the existence of a sustainable Park.
