Affirmative Actions in a Public University: Education as a Right from the perspective of sustainable development

The study analyzes the insertion of affirmative action policy - "quotas", implemented in the course of medical degree from the Federal University of Cariri-UFCA. The impact of such non-discriminatory measures and their correlation with the development of subjects in search of their academic and personal emancipation. The objectives of the study are to analyze the implementation of the quota system at the Federal University of Cariri, contextualizing the perspective of the right to education based on the Millennium promotion of sustainable regional development; mapping the quota system at UFCA categorized according to the adopted parameters, with emphasis on the undergraduate Medicine; identify the legal, principological and social aspects that support constitutionality of the quota system in the Brazilian legal system and to identify the implemented quota system implemented an inclusive policy of the student in the light of sustainability. Qualitative research will be based on a case study using the study of theoretical reference on the subject, the documentary study that guides the legal planning and field research, with the collection and analysis of the data. The search hopes to contribute to the strengthening of public policies for student stay in a "inclusive" perspective of the working class and its impacts on the Cariri of Ceará.
