Space-Temporal Dynamics of Vegetation in the Cariús River Microbasin in the Municipality of Santana do Cariri - CE
Remote Sensing, Vegetation Index, Vegetation Cover. Hydrographic basins, Anthropogenic action.
Remote sensing data are essential in research that points to the behavior of vegetation, as well as to monitor meteorological and environmental phenomena. In this context, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) has been used for monitoring and evaluation of vegetation, as it was one of the first remote sensing analysis products used to measure vegetation. Thus, monitoring the vegetation cover is essential, as it constitutes the basis for a better understanding of the relationships and interactions between man and natural phenomena. To better use and manage these features. Because human actions contribute to environmental changes that end up directly affecting the quality of the environment. In this sense, the main objective of the project is to analyze the vegetation cover of the Cariú river microbasin located in the municipality of Santana do Cariri, Ceará on a time scale from 1984 to 2020 through the normalized difference vegetation index - NDVI (Normalized Differenc‹ Vegetation Index ), seeking to understand the environmental changes caused by human activities in the watershed. For the accomplishment of this work will be used the (QGIS) which is a free software of the Geographic Information System (GIS), from the acquisition of the images! of satellites obtained from the website ( https://www.usgs.gov/ ) of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) available in the image catalog of the LANDSAT program. The application of the NDVI will be relevant to determine the current situation of the Cariús river microbasin in relation to its vegetation, as this indicator can help public management bodies in decision-making in environmental planning. Because this index acts as an indicator of green areas. However, this technique can improve the detection of changes in vegetation err future studies.
