RESUMO:
In view of the significant influence that urbanization processes have on natural resources and, consequently, on the urban landscape, greater attention should be turned to the environmental and urban planning of green areas. In this context is the municipality of Juazeiro do Norte, which has five special environmental protection zones. One of them, Special Zone 2, called Parque Ecológico das Timbaúbas, is part of the Riacho dos Macacos, one of the most important watercourses in the municipality, for, among other reasons, comprising 17 tubular wells for public supply along its margins. However, despite being registered as an environmental protection area, with specific restrictions on urbanization, it has been verified that, over the years, this area has been the target of urban interferences associated with the construction of houses and the implementation of commercial enterprises. In addition, there is no study on its hydrogeomorphological characteristics that guide actions directed towards its environmental planning. Thus, the purpose of this research is to know the potential and weaknesses of the physical environment of Special Zone 2, through the study of hydrogeomorphological aspects, as a way to contribute to the environmental planning of this area. The research will be carried out in three stages: 1. Survey and analysis of bibliographic sources; 2. Elaboration of cartographic representations comprising hydrogeomorphological and land use and occupation aspects; and 3. Carrying out fieldwork to carry out infiltration and permeability tests in loco and collect surface soil samples for laboratory analysis of the following parameters: granulometry, specific weight and the liquidity and plasticity limits of the grains. From the steps listed above, cartographic representations of slope and altimetry have already been carried out. The analysis of these representations showed that the evaluated area does not present great variations in slope and altimetry, since low slopes predominated (from 0 to 11.9%). This result suggests that the area is suitable for urbanization. However, only after analyzing the other proposed parameters will it be possible to infer their support capacity in the face of anthropic pressures.
