RESUMO:

Brazil is the largest consumer of pesticides on the planet, in which heavy metals are part of their active components. This is due to the population growth and climate change that is increasingly requiring the use of these products. Despite the benefits of using these chemicals, it is important to emphasize that overuse can lead to various complications for human health and the environment. The objective of this work is to evaluate and determine the amount of contaminants (heavy metals and agrochemicals) present in the sedimentary matrix of the Icó -Lima Campos and Mauriti-Quixabinha irrigated perimeter, demonstrating their relevance as indicators of environmental quality supporting the environmental policies to be implemented in the region. It will be elaborate an inventory of the main agrochemicals used in the agricultural crops in the region Produce, from the information obtained in the inventory of the use of pesticides, the Salgado Basin. A diagnosis of the risk of contamination of surface and groundwater resources in the Salgado Basin region will be produced and an evaluation of the conditions of use and application of the pesticides by the rural producers as well as possible impacts of the use of agrochemicals in the Salgado Basin region. The sediment capacity will be evaluated for the persistence or mobility of pesticides administered in the region and a) Characterize the sediment according to granulometry, humic, fulvic, humic and organic matter. To quantify the contaminants, the composition of trace metals (Cu, Ni, Zn, Fe, Mn, Cr, Co, Al, Cd and Pb) present in the sediment will be determined and a pyrethrotoxic pesticides analysis protocol (cypermethrin and deltamethrin ) in solid environmental matrices (sediment) by HPLC. With the development of this work, it hopes to meet the proposed objectives in addition to the standardization of analysis methodologies, interlaboratorial intercalibrations, promotion and transfer of knowledge to managers of water resources in the region, partnerships such as local producers linked to agribusiness, human resources training at the undergraduate level production of course completion papers and dissertation.
