Social Sustainability through the Reading for Citizenship intervention project

follow-up of the steps of a school project. The general objective is to discuss the social dimension
of sustainability through the intervention practices of the school project entitled Reading for
Citizenship and what its relations with social aspects in the analyzed experiences. The project was
elaborated by EEFM José Matias Sampaio belonging to the state regular education network of the
city of Brejo Santo-Ce. In the first moment, a conceptual course on the World Conference on
Sustainable Development focused on the educational process was discussed, discussing the
policies that emerged from these meetings, then discussed the school project and its
interconnection with sustainability, reporting on the social aspects which covered the
implementation stages. Afterwards, we analyze the practices, their contributions and perspectives
for those involved. The study has a qualitative approach, taking into account the interest in the
social relations of the subjects, through the documentary, bibliographic research and through the
technique of participant observation unsystematic will accompany, discuss and analyze the project
of school intervention and its relation with social dimension of sustainability. Thus, the analyzed
project serves as a base in the school to strengthen the relations of experiences, to discuss
pertinent themes in the current world and to practice practices of daily coexistence with the
intention to modify the context of which they belong, through the actions of the executed phases.
It was observed that the integration of school, student and intervention project was based on the
sustainability associated with the social dimension through the relationships between students and
the school environment through daily practices, which allowed the students in their cultural
diversity to exercise actions, opinions and in collectivity cooperate for the changes of the lived
reality. Contributions that may contribute to a view of the importance of developing a school
project in a context of social relations of different cultures and the insertion of the subject as a
transformer of the social environment.
