The process of accelerated urbanization is something characteristic of modernity and techniques implemented in space, adding to the exacerbated generation of new technologies causing changes in the natural environment, in addition to causing the increase wasteful generation of solid waste. However, concerns about the environment environment is not something characteristic of modernity alone. History reveals that Romans already had disciplinary means to diminish or abolish tailings coming from the homes of the residents. To this end, the end of the 20th century witnessed the growing awareness of the degradation of the environment arising from the development process. The deepening of the environmental crisis, together with the systematic reflection on the influence of society in this process, has led to a new concept of sustainable regional development. In this horizon, the locus of this research is the district of Monte Alverne, belonging to the Municipality of Crato - CE, metropolitan region of Cariri of Ceará. In this way, the research seeks to analyze the management and disposal of household solid waste generated in the district of Monte Alverne - Crato / CE. Methodologically, this communication is of a bibliographical and field, with exploratory-descriptive character and quantitative approach.
