SUMMARY:

Currently, one of the major environmental problems on the planet are thefire outbreaks. Fire behavior can be determined by different factors of the environment, being the climate considered the most dynamic and preponderant in the propagation of forest fires along the different biomes, causing, in many cases, damages ecological, scenic and economic aspects, making knowledge and monitoring of these events. In this sense, the present study aims to analyze the relationship between the occurrence of fires and the climatic variables in the APA da Chapada do Araripe in Ceará, using geospatial tools in the interpretation of this relationship, through the delimitation and characterization of areas with scars from fires of according to the degree of severity, within a scenario of 20 years of analyses, comprising between 2002-2021. The work was divided into two stages: in the first stage, a survey of the records of fire, climatic variables and the years of occurrence of climatic phenomena El niño and La niña. These data were analyzed by dispersion measures and hypothesis testing. AND in the second stage, from the identification of fire records, the reconnaissance and delimitation of post-fire areas using satellite images, as well as through the tools NBR, dNBR and RdNBR will be identified the scars, the degree of severity and evaluated the degree of regeneration of the area vegetation. The results found in first stage indicate that climatic variables have an influence on the incidence of fires, where they contribute significantly to the increase and reduction of numbers recorded over the years. Also noteworthy is the importance of analyzing various variables together, and not just isolated climatological analyses, such as soil management and anthropic actions that strengthen the burning process in the area and help its propagation.
