RESUMO:

The motto of this research is to identify if the process of gentrification is present in the policies housing, taking as a contribution the effects of this phenomenon among the residents contemplated by the My House My Life Program (PMCMV Monsenhor Montenegro, located in the neighborhood of Our Lady of Fatima, in the city of Crato. From the earliest days of the primitive accumulation of capital the land became the subject of strife, implicit in the fact that uneven geographical development is partly expressed in terms of an opposition between opposing forces that contribute to the concentration or geographic dispersion in the circulation of capital. In the same vein, the speculative movement caused by capital in the vicinity of the social production of space and its derivations ( socio-spatial segregation, exclusion and inequality) has led to the dissemination of a socially disparate, economically unequal and politically incorrect division social reproduction of space. Allied to this, there is still the fetishization of housing, which in Brazil, through Federal Housing Programs, has led many people to live in remote places of urban centers, putting in check one of the fundamental rights listed in the Federal Constitution, as is the case with the right to housing.
It should be noted that the dwelling the idea of inviolable asylum, its extension goes from security of possession, availability of goods, economics, habitability, accessibility, location to cultural appropriateness. Ignore any implicitly included in the right to housing is to for gentrification, terminology adopted to refer not only to the constant measures of expulsion of poor residents from areas that have experienced real estate valuation, for the various inequalities experienced by those who live far from the "center of the city", and which therefore does not enjoy the same benefits - in quantity and quality alike - of those who do not live in peripheries. Therefore, the central objective of this work concerns to investigate whether the Monsenhor Montenegro Residential Complex is or is not based on the of gentrification. Of a qualitative nature, the research in focus is a case study, which adopted as an eyeliner the bibliographic research and the tools of the descriptive- exploratory, using the questionnaire and the semi-structured interview as tools the data collection. It stands out as the main data, besides the enormous distance of the Residential complex in relation to the urban center, the lack of public power in the provision and assistance of basic goods and services to the community is misplaced.
