URBAN COMMUNITY HORTA AND SUSTAINABILITY: THE PROJECT SEMEAR AND SPOON IN NORTH-CE JUAZEIRO

The cities became more populated compared to rural areas, along anthropogenic action, environmental problems have grown. Thus, the preservation of the environment environment has become an increasingly focus of concern for society and the search for sustainability is constant. An alternative to improve the quality of urban space and consequently the man's life in the city is the increase of green spaces. As examples of urban green spaces we have the urban gardens that are responsible for changes in the city's environment, as well as in the food and quality of life of the population. The development of vegetable garden is an important modality of production and consumption of the population considering the nutritional point of view, besides having direct consequences on improving the consumption habits of people, on the economy of families and even in the maintenance and improvement of health. In Juazeiro do Norte-CE it is being developed a pilot project of a community garden in urban perimeter, project entitled "Sowing and Harvesting": Paths of social and ecological responsibility, which benefits 20 families living in a neighborhood of the municipality. The garden serves as a model for own city and neighboring municipalities. This study was based on the Semear Spoon, with the main objective of knowing the contributions of a community garden for the families benefited by the project, from the point of view of the dimensions of the sustainable development. The results obtained showed that the development of community garden, as well as being a source of income, is also important for the strengthening of social relations, promoting bonds of friendship and companionship, strengthening the collective and organized action, besides being a place that makes possible entertainment and leisure. It is hoped to highlight the importance of garden development community action so that similar actions can be taken in other places and that this contribute to the development of projects and public policies capable of contributing to the for the promotion and growth of sustainable practices, with the involvement of society in local development.
