Affirmative Actions in a Public University: Education as a Right
from the perspective of sustainable development

The study analyzes the insertion of affirmative action policy - "quotas", implemented in the
Federal University of Cariri-UFCA. The impacts of such
non-discriminatory measures and their correlation with the development of the subjects in search of
of their academic and personal emancipation. The objectives of the study are: to analyze the
system of quotas at the Federal University of Cariri contextualizing the perspective of what
advocates the right to education based on the millennium goals for the promotion of
sustainable regional development; map the quota system in the UFCA by categorizing them
according to the parameters adopted, with emphasis on the undergraduate degree in Librarianship;
identify the legal, principles and social aspects that support constitutionality
of the quota system in the Brazilian legal order and to identify in what sense the system of
implemented an inclusive student policy in the light of sustainability. THE
qualitative basis, will be based on a case study using
theoretical reference on the subject, the documentary study that guides the legal order
and field research, with the collection and analysis of the data. The research hopes to contribute to the
strengthening public policies of student stay in an "inclusive"
of the working class and its impacts on the cariri of Ceará.
