SUMMARY:

Urbanization, marked by the accelerated growth of cities and the expansion of areas
urban areas, significantly transformed the global scenario. Today, more than half of the population
lives in urban areas and this effect has resulted in notable climate changes.
Heat islands, characterized by considerably high temperatures in areas
urbanized compared to rural areas, have become a growing concern in studies
recent. Thus, this dissertation aimed to analyze the occurrence of the island phenomenon
of heat in the cities that make up CRAJUBAR in Ceará. Therefore, this study will consist of
in an investigation of the temporal evolution of heat islands within the perimeter of
municipalities, distinguishing between the dry and rainy periods of the years 2010, 2015 and 2020.
To achieve the objectives, this research was divided into four stages: review
bibliographic, cartographic and data collection; database creation and integration;
organization and interpretation of data, preparation of surface temperature maps,
vegetation and land use and occupation; and proposing mitigating measures aimed at reducing
of heat islands. To achieve the result, remote sensing techniques will be used.
and geoprocessing tools, based on Landsat satellite images, from where
temperature data, vegetation indices and albedo values can be extracted. A
analysis of the results will allow identifying the distribution patterns of heat islands and
understand the factors that contribute to its formation. According to the basis
theory and some preliminary analyses, it is expected that the data demonstrate the worsening
of the phenomenon observed, in line with the various news reports that confirm the increase
gradual temperature increase in cities, and thus, provides subsidies for urban planning
and for the implementation of heat island adaptation and mitigation measures in these
counties. It is also expected that this research will contribute to the production of knowledge
scientific research on the topic, providing the basis for future investigations.
