SUMMARY:

Microcredit facilitates access to credit, contributing to economic and social ascension. It deals with a public policy to generate work and income through the granting of credit with entrepreneurial and educational orientation, promotes financial inclusion, positively impacts the well-being of families, favors overcoming the poverty line and, consequently, Sustainable Development. The target audience for microcredit is the most vulnerable class, which would not have access to the financial system under traditional market conditions. Controlling and predicting default in microcredit contracts is challenging. The objective of this work is to develop mathematical models for predicting default in Oriented Productive Microcredit programs. Particularly, the object of study is the micro-finance reports, accessible to the general public, of Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S/A (BNB). Techniques will be used to calculate the Probability of Default, based on Multivariate Regression formalisms and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) 1. To deal with the usual aggregations of secondary data, simulation and resampling methods will also be addressed. It is envisaged that such models will help in better decision-making processes regarding the granting of microcredit, as well as their respective values and deadlines.
