RESUMO:

Brazil is one of the largest agricultural producers in the world and a major consumer of inputs, including agrochemicals. Despite the benefits in pest control, the indiscriminate use of these assets can cause several environmental damage. Therefore, this work seeks to survey the main active ingredients of pesticides sold in specific areas of the Salgado River basin, Ceará, Brazil, and their respective risks of water and soil contamination. Soil sampling was carried out at 18 points in the basin, in the irrigated perimeters of Icó and Mauriti, in 2019, with the aim of detecting and quantifying chemical markers and heavy metals and relating them to the physicochemical properties of the soil. As well as, the inventory of products sold in the study region was surveyed through SEMACE's online registration and online AGROFIT system. To identify the potential for water contamination, the superficial GOSS and GUS, GSI, LIX, EPA, LEACH, RLPI indices were applied for underground. Analyzes of the physical-chemical composition (pH, MO), detection of pesticides by HPLC and metals in the soil were carried out. There were 57 active ingredients with defined chemical class and the compound called mineral oil. As for the potential for environmental hazard, most assets (51.48%) belong to class II (very dangerous product) and toxicological nature 43.56% are class III (moderately toxic). Sandy fractions and low levels of organic matter predominate, which associated intensify the risk of contamination of soils and water bodies in the study area. The levels of OM in the two irrigated perimeters varied from 0.8% and 5.4% in Mauriti and from 0.8% to 4.1% in Icó. The humidified fractions of the soil represent 8.1% and 6.1% of the organic carbon in Mauriti and Icó, respectively. The concentrations detected for metals, Cd, Cr, Pb and Zn are within the recommended limits. Chromium had an average concentration of 12.87 mg kg-1, lead 31.75 mg kg-1, zinc 45.85 mg kg-1, colbate 16.48 mg kg-1, copper 42.27 mg kg-1, nickel 11.19 mg kg- 1. The soils have high levels of Deltamethrin, which vary from 32 to 1560 ng g-1, and Cypermethrin, from 28 to 1463 ng g-1. This study contributes to the development of actions and public aimed at promoting the sustainability of this semi-arid region
