RESUMO:


This dissertation places its discussion based on the knowledge about Sustainable Development, higher education teaching and pedagogical practices of professors at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA) articulating the theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study recognizes thought-provoking points about teaching practices in higher education and the contributions to sustainable development in the Metropolitan Region of Cariri (RMC), based on the perspective of the 17 SDGs proposed by the United Nations (UN) since January 1, 2016 through of the Resolution entitled “Transforming our world: 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda”. Thus, the objective of the research was to know which and how the SDGs are involved in the practices of UFCA teachers, as well as to describe the profile of UFCA's teacher education; explain what guides their pedagogical practices and the teachers' perception about sustainable development. In order to contemplate the aforementioned objectives, a bibliographic, documentary, descriptive and exploratory research was then used, with data collection through the application of an online questionnaire with the Google forms tool, divided into three sessions to grasp specific questions of each subject under study. The data treatment was carried out with a quantitative and qualitative approach, so that we used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) in the quantitative approach and qualitatively deepened the grounded discussions of BARDAN's Content Analysis (2011), from AXIS A - TEACHING PROFILE OF UFCA, covering 4 categories (About the research participants; Link to UFCA; Training; What guides our practices) and Axis B - TEACHING PRACTICES AND THE INTER-RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SDGS, with 3 categories dealing with Perception about Sustainable Development; SDGs in teaching practices; Perspectives for Education for Sustainable Development). Thus, in order to understand the transversality of the study on pedagogical practices of UFCA teachers and how the SDGs approach the teaching sphere, highlighting those SDGs most contemplated in the pedagogical practices of UFCA teachers, in their teaching, research, extension and culture activities.
