DYNAMICS OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN THE 21ST CENTURY: PROPOSAL TO CREATE A CATALOG OF GOOD PRACTICES FOR PUBLIC LIBRARIES IN CEARANCE BASED ON THE 2030 AGENDA
Public library. Agenda 2030. Catalog. Good practices.
This research project is about how public libraries and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the 2030 Agenda and its object of study is the public libraries in Ceará. Thus, we start with the following problem: how can libraries in Ceará promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda? It is hypothesized that public libraries already carry out practices that meet the SDGs, however, they are partially or entirely unaware of the 2030 Agenda and that a guiding document with good practices aligned with the UN global agenda would allow them to contribute more effectively to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The general objective is to identify good practices aimed at implementing the 2030 Agenda in public libraries in Ceará. And the specific objectives are: to discuss the evolution of the public library concept; understand the role of public libraries in relation to the 2030 Agenda; identify initiatives to promote the 2030 Agenda in libraries in the state of Ceará's library hubs; and, finally, develop a catalog of good practices in line with the 2030 Agenda for municipal public libraries in the State of Ceará. The methodological procedures involve the adoption of the comparative method and indirect documentation techniques (bibliographic and documentary research) and direct (questionnaires). The research universe will be Municipal Public Libraries (BPM) registered in the State System of Public Libraries of the State of Ceará (SEBP-CE) and which are characterized within the SEBP/CE organization as hub libraries which are: BPM of Acaráu, BPM of Crateús, BPM of Iguatu, BPM of Itapipoca, BPM of Juazeiro do Norte, BPM of Maranguape, BPM of Quixeramobim, BPM of Russas, and BPM of Tianguá.
