‘WHERE IS MY CELL PHONE? I'M GOING TO CALL ONE EIGHT ZERO': INFORMATION MEDIATION AND THE PROTAGONISM OF WOMEN ASSISTED BY THE WOMEN'S REFERENCE CENTER OF CRATO
Violence against women; information mediation; social protagonism.
This study focuses on the Women's Reference Center (CRM/Crato) in the mediation of information as a strategy to promote social protagonism and address domestic violence. The research aims to answer the question: What strategies can prevent and combat future violence faced by women assisted by CRM/Crato? To this end, it establishes the general objective of analyzing how access to information, mediated by CRM/Crato, can empower women in situations of violence. The specific objectives include: mapping the profile of women attended by CRM/Crato; identifying barriers to information access faced by these women; understanding the application of information mediation to improve the effectiveness of CRM/Crato's services; and developing a protocol for a mobile application that provides continuous information for the prevention and combat of violence. Methodologically, it adopts an interdisciplinary approach to conduct a descriptive research, which will be carried out in two stages: a comprehensive bibliographic and documentary review on violence against women in Crato, and a field study with semi-structured interviews with women assisted by CRM/Crato. As a final product, a mobile application will be proposed, offering relevant information and educational resources to the women of Crato, focusing on rights, safety, and female empowerment. This application aims to strengthen continuous access to information and promote women's autonomy in preventing and combating violence.
