IMPLIED MEDIATION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE LIBRARY SYSTEM OF THE FEDERAL INSTITUTE OF CEARÁ 

WITH EMPHASIS ON THE FORTALEZA CAMPUS: PREPARATION OF A PLAN

Information mediation. Implicit mediation. 

Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará – IFCE - Library System.

Discusses Implicit Mediation in the Context of the Library System of the Federal 

Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará – IFCE with a focus on the Campi Fortaleza library: 

elaboration of a plan. This document proposes a work plan for the development of an innovative product 

for the IFCE Library System. The preparation of the plan details each step of the creation process, 

with the aim of answering the question: what is the procedure I must follow for this product to be 

created and implemented successfully? The plan is based on the assumptions of implicit information mediation 

and aims to be successfully applied in the creation and implementation of the product. The research has the 

general objective of investigating the possible applications of implicit mediation of information in IFCE, 

specifically in the Engenheiro Waldir Diogo de Siqueira Library - BEWDS. The specific objectives include: 

a) discuss information mediation, with a focus on implicit mediation; 

b) identify the elements that make up the implicit mediation of information in SIBI - IFCE; 

c) understand the relationships between the elements of implicit mediation of information in SIBI – IFCE; 

d) propose alternatives for the development of implicit mediation in SIBI - IFCE. 

We will carry out descriptive research with bibliographical review, documentary and qualitative research. 

Two techniques will be used to collect and analyze research data: document analysis and direct observation. 

Implicit mediation, although less evident, requires a more centralized focus of studies. 

It is concluded that the main elements that constitute implicit mediation are: the activities of formation, 

maintenance and control of the library collection in accordance with the needs of the potential 

user population; descriptive and thematic representation of conventional and non-conventional 

documentation, aiming at identifying and retrieving information; search and search retrieval; 

planning and technical-administrative supervision of the library.
