Cordel is a multicultural and multidisciplinary information tool that runs through generations disseminating the culture and memory of a people. Recognized by the Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico Artístico Nacional (IPHAN) as material cultural heritage of Brazil, the leaflet is understood as written poetry that evolved from intertwined voices from different narrative and poetic genres that gave life to the artistic and cultural manifestations of this informational support. With the arrival of Information Science, library spaces expanded their social objectives, offering from then on environments that, in addition to providing different types of written and digital media, also opened opportunities for oral voices to manifest themselves in a more participatory. Within the perspective of the influence of the cordel culture in reading environments, the questioning and reflection of the little expansion of cordel literature and the lack of specialized spaces with cordel collections (cordelteca) within the libraries of the Federal Institute of Ceará, more specifically, in the libraries of the Iguatu campus. For the methodological path, bibliographical research is adopted, with a dialectical approach, studying the updates about the cordel and the cordelteca, aiming at their contributions as a support for the preservation of the culture and memory of the Brazilian people. The study is of an exploratory nature, with the objective of providing a greater affinity with the studied problem. And to dialogue with the school community about the importance of leaflets in cultural spaces and facilitate interaction between readers and their research material, the methodology of the Laboratory of Affections - LATA was used. The study resulted in a proposal for a plan to implement a cordel library within the library units of the Federal Institute of Ceará – IFCE - Iguatu campus, in order to contribute to the dissemination of the culture of cordéis in reading spaces and to collaborate with the socio-cultural participation between the school and outside communities. Through pedagogical practices and cultural projects, there will be a continuous propagation of the culture and memory of the cordels, aiming at the construction of knowledge and the dissemination of information. Thus, the cordelteca will be a space specialized in cordéis produced and appreciated by students, teachers, administrative technicians and the entire community outside the Iguatu campus.
