THE CATALOGING OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION OF THE PADRE CICERO MEMORIAL FOUNDATION AND ITS IMPORTANCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT JUAZEIRO DO NORTE – CEARÁ

The research aims to contribute to the organization and quick access to the photographs that make up the collection of the Padre Cícero Memorial Foundation, located for 32 years in Juazeiro do Norte-CE, as equipment of the Municipality of Juazeiro do Norte-CE. In this perspective, it becomes essential to define quality standards in the organization and conservation of photographs in institutional collections in the conduction and production of research tools. The main objective of this work is to identify and catalog the existing photographs there, creating a physical system of custody and access, which addresses a disparity of themes that this accumulation of memory (individual and collective) keeps about this Ceará territory, covering more than one hundred years. of history, since there are items whose production is prior to 1911, the date of its suitability as a municipality. The specific objectives are: a) to select the photos and separate them by categories; b) analyze the characteristics of each photograph; c) carry out a bibliographic survey and collect precise information about the respective photos; d) catalog the photographs; e) specify in a printed catalog the photos with their descriptions. The collection selected for analysis and cataloging is made up of 963 photos for the disposal and registration of this documentary material. the history of the Municipality of Juazeiro do Norte. In this investigation, qualitative aspects will prevail, as it is a methodology of investigation focused on the analyzed item (the images), through its characteristics and details. After completing the technical process of the photographic collection, it is intended to prepare a printed catalog containing the photo with its physical description based on library standards. With the intention of safeguarding, recovering the document's information as a source of information.
