FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ANTI- RACIST COLLECTIONS: PROPOSAL FOR THE MUNICIPAL SYSTEM OF
SCHOOL LIBRARIES OF JUAZEIRO DO NORTE - CEARÁ
Formation and Development of Anti-Racist Collections; School Libraries; Federal Law 10.639/2003.
The general objective of this research is to investigate how ethnic-racial issues can be guided in the policy of formation and development of collections of school libraries in the city of Juazeiro do Norte - Ceará, in compliance with Law 10.639/2003. And as specific objectives: a) discuss the criteria for the implementation of an anti-racist Collection Training and Development Policy for school libraries; b) highlight the actions of the black educator movement for the construction of an anti-racist society and c) develop a Manual for the formation and development of anti-racist collections aimed at the Municipal System of School Libraries of Juazeiro do Norte - Ceará, observing what establishes the Curriculum Guidelines National Institutes for the Education of Ethnic-Racial Relations and for the Teaching of Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture. It is possible to affirm through the history of Information Science that the black population is in a representative disparity in the traditional educational institutional means, in its materials, contents and services. The previous information found a social and library-economic problem that supports the following problem-question: in view of the diversity of materials, supports and services of school libraries, how can ethnic-racial issues be guided in the policy of formation and development of collections of these information units, for the enforcement of Law 10.639/2003? This concern sought to be elucidated through a systematization of methodological procedures, using techniques for access, analysis and use of consolidated informational materials on the subject. It concludes that the production of a manual that aims to technically and socially guide the Formation and Development of Anti-racist Collections for the Municipal System of School Libraries of Juazeiro do Norte - Ceará is a promising mechanism to combat racism and prejudice, for this, it is necessary that librarians and teachers are willing beforehand to be touched by this anti-racist education in a pedagogical formative character.
