This is a case study on information accessibility for people with visual impairments in
the Integrated Library System of the Federal University of Piauí. What would be the
issue of information accessibility for visually impaired people in the Library System of
the Federal University of Piauí (SIBi-UFPI)? This paper aims to investigate information
accessibility for people with visual impairment in SIBi-UFPI, through the architectural,
communicational and instrumental aspects. Therefore, it will be verified how products
and services are offered to this public in the libraries of the System, if accessible, using
assistive technologies, qualified personnel, accessible physical spaces and furniture in
accordance with national norms and laws. and internationals dealing with the subject.
The methodology used will be of an applied nature, exploratory and descriptive and will
be developed in two stages, the literature review and the single case study incorporated.
The data approach is qualitative in nature with content analysis. With the results we
hope to endorse the discussion and contribute to more effective information accessibility
practices for visually impaired people within the university libraries, aiming to compile
the research results and produce a local action guide.
