Without ever Losing the Tenderness: Trupe dos Pensantes’s theatrical group memory of resistance
Art and Culture. Memory. Society. Street Theater.
This work explores the universe of street theater under the lens of Library Science,
while investigating it as the creator of a web of memories and meanings, capable of
generating deep social transformations. To do so, it analyzes concepts such as social
memories, both collective and individual, identity and preservation. In this sense, it
carries out an ethnographic research with the communities visited together with the
theatrical group Trupe dos Pensantes, which is the research object. It hopes, from
collected speeches and observation, to understand how the action of performing and
attending the theater can be fundamental in the formation of a critical thinking, of a
social empowerment, of a tangible perspective of what it is to belong and be
fundamental in a community, besides of pointing out the character of social
responsibility that exists in the artistic making and the importance of the work of the
librarian in the recognition of memory as fundamental to the construction of the history
of the people.
