CARIRI HAS A WOMAN'S FACE (?): Memories of influential women in the gender discussions in the Cariri region of Ceará
Memories; Women; Feminism; Cariri.
Even in a postmodern world, in the 21st century, women fight for their rights to have time and
voice throughout Brazil. And in the midst of so much access to information, there are still
women who are “hidden” in the history of the formation of large societies. Therefore, the
objective of this work is to understand the memory of women who have influence in the gender
discussions in their areas, focusing on the Cariri region of Ceará, marked by the presence of
male figures in the construction of their history. For this, it is intended to reconstruct narratives
of life history of these women when conducting non-directive interviews with each one of them;
to identify how the action of the feminist movement in the region happens from the collected
memories. As a result, it is hoped to produce an illustrated book that narrates the history and
memory of these characters, and can be used in school libraries in an educational and dynamic
way.
