The study problem is based on the following question: how to structure strategies
for the mediation of information, reading and culture within the framework of school libraries
of the cities of Crato and Juazeiro do Norte in the Cariri region? Shows how
general objective: To investigate the reality of the performance of the libraries of private colleges
cities of Crato and Juazeiro do Norte, aiming to propose a set of strategies within the
mediation of information. The specific objectives are: to reflect on theoretical-
practical and mediation characteristics of the information applied to the school library; perform a
collection of private primary and secondary school libraries
make up the cities of Crato and Juazeiro do Norte; identify and analyze practices
of the private school libraries of the cities of Crato and Juazeiro do Norte;
propose a manual with strategies of action for the school library of the cities of Crato and
Juazeiro do Norte in the context of information mediation. The methodology is based on the
from a bibliographical review, to give a theoretical basis, characterizing
descriptive study. With qualitative and quantitative approaches. the data collection
will be through the application of questionnaires, constituting the subjects of the research, librarian
and / or library officer and a college manager. From the results and discussions, it was
possible to identify the reality of the school libraries of the cities of Crato and Juazeiro do
North. It has been noticed that there is still resistance in the hiring of librarians, valuation and
recognition of the school library as an important space for the educational context.

appropriate for this activity, and that the production, communication, and especially, the use of information can be facilitated, providing good results for libraries.
